New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Missions
World Missions means carrying the Gospel of Jesus Christ from our local community to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8) in obedience to the command of our Lord. The challenge of reaching billions of people in this world who have never heard the name of Jesus is so staggering that it calls for the utmost commitment from every believer. As a Southern Baptist church we embrace the idea of cooperative giving for missions; along with some 37,000 other Southern Baptist churches we support the Cooperative Program. Our commitment to Cooperative Program giving is currently 17.5% of budgeted offering receipts.
Additional significant financial support is provided through the sacrificial giving of our membership to annual designated offerings for North Carolina State Missions (NC Missions Offering), North American Missions (Annie Armstrong Easter Offering) , and International Missions (Lottie Moon Christmas Offering). Missions giving at New Sandy Creek currently stands at 20.73% of our total budget.
We believe that the eternal destiny of multitudes brings urgency to our stewardship and the imminent return of our Lord brings a sense of carefulness to our obedience to His Great Commission.
In addition to an ever increasing percentage of designated giving to the Cooperative Program and local Associational Missions, New Sandy Creek strives to be a missionary sending church. We believe that our Lord calls people out to fulltime service on the mission field . Over the past several years we have commissioned and sent those the Lord has called to fulltime service. We continue to provide financial and prayer support for our missionary families.
New Sandy Creek is also intentional in encouraging our local body to participate in local, state, national and international missions projects as volunteers. In recent years, volunteers have participated in local associational missions such as medical-dental ministries, disaster relief and recovery efforts in conjunction with North Carolina Baptist Men, national trips to New York, South Texas and Las Vegas, and international trips to Kenya, Honduras, Venezuela, Philipines, and East Asia.
Along with some 550 other churches, New Sandy Creek is recognized as a Global Priority Church by the International Mission Board. This designation simply means that New Sandy Creek gives the highest priority to taking the Gospel to a lost world. In addition to giving a global priority to spreading the Gospel, we have adopted and specifically pray for the Bai People of East Asia.
Through consistent and intentional prayer, New Sandy Creek supports the work of missionaries locally, in our home state, across North America, and around the world. There is no greater privilege than asking on behalf of those who labor in the fields that are “white unto harvest,” and in fact, we believe that our prayers are a vital part of that labor.
